MAKE YOUR JEWELLERY LAST LONGER
Caring for your Nice Cream Jewellery
Your Nice Cream jewellery is designed to be worn, loved and brought out for life's best moments. A little care goes a long way in keeping each piece looking its most beautiful.
Like all plated jewellery, the finish can naturally change over time. How quickly this happens varies depending on how often a piece is worn, how it is stored, individual skin chemistry and its exposure to moisture, beauty products and chemicals.
Following these simple care tips will help preserve the colour, shine and sparkle of your jewellery for as long as possible.
THE GOLDEN RULES
LAST ON, FIRST OFF
Make your jewellery the last thing you put on when getting ready and the first thing you take off when you get home.
Apply perfume, hairspray, make-up, moisturiser and other beauty products before putting on your jewellery, and allow them to dry first.
KEEP IT DRY
Our jewellery is not waterproof, so make sure to remove your pieces before showering, bathing or swimming, and avoid wearing them during exercise. Water, perspiration, chlorine, salt water and repeated exposure to moisture can all affect plated finishes over time.
If your jewellery does get wet, gently dry it thoroughly before putting it away.
AVOID CHEMICALS
Keep your jewellery away from perfume, hairspray, creams, cleaning products and other chemicals wherever possible.
These can react with or gradually affect the plated surface of your jewellery.
WIPE AFTER WEAR
After wearing your jewellery, gently wipe it with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
This helps remove traces of perspiration, natural skin oils and product residue before the piece is stored.
Avoid abrasive cloths, harsh cleaners and chemical jewellery dips, which may damage the plating or stones.
CARING FOR PLATED JEWELLERY
Many Nice Cream London pieces are created in brass or sterling silver and finished with 14k gold or white gold plating.
Plating is a beautiful surface finish rather than solid gold, and some gradual wear is a normal characteristic of plated jewellery.
The rate at which this happens differs from person to person. Frequent wear, moisture, perfume, lotions, perspiration and individual skin chemistry can all influence the finish.
For the best longevity, avoid unnecessarily exposing plated pieces to water and chemicals and gently clean them after wear.
PROTECT THE SPARKLE
Our crystal and cubic zirconia pieces are designed to catch the light beautifully.
To keep them looking their best, avoid knocks, drops and unnecessary friction. Remove jewellery before sleeping, exercising or doing anything that could place pressure on the settings or stones.
To clean, gently polish the piece with a soft, dry cloth rather than soaking it in water.
CARING FOR PEARLS
Pearls are naturally more delicate and should be treated with a little extra care.
Keep them away from perfume, hairspray, creams and other beauty products, and never soak them in water or jewellery cleaner.
Do not use a jewellery polishing cloth on pearls, as treated or abrasive cloths can affect their delicate lustre. If needed, gently wipe them with a very soft, clean, untreated cloth and ensure they are completely dry before storing.
HOW TO STORE YOUR JEWELLERY
When you're not wearing your jewellery, keep it somewhere cool, clean and dry.
We recommend:
- Storing pieces individually to help prevent scratching and tangling.
- Using your Nice Cream jewellery box or a soft jewellery pouch.
- Making sure jewellery is completely dry before storing it.
- Keeping jewellery away from humid areas such as bathrooms.
- Adding an anti-tarnish strip or silica gel packet to your jewellery box for a little extra protection.
Chains should be fastened before storing to help prevent knots and tangles.
